- Could the NANN be a tourist attraction, with people spending their leisure time exploring and enjoying nature across North Ayrshire?
- Would this encourage people to spend more time and money at local businesses across North Ayrshire?
We need to encourage tourists to our towns to help drive the economy. By encouraging outdoor learning and exploring nature would be an interesting way to spend their leisure time and support businesses.
Not enough destinations to visit, or not enough information about destinations. Sometimes access is an issue like Glengarnock Castle.
There are already a few walking routes in the Garnock Valley, but they are not publicised. Not everyone uses social media: why not have information boards and leaflets in easily accessible public places. Not just local libraries, whose opening hours are being reduced. However, most routes tend to be on 'quiet country roads', could the old railway lines be developed as routes?
Would this encourage people to stay in the Valley? Not unless something is done about the depressing state of the towns and lack of amenities. There's not even a public toilet available in Beith on a Saturday afternoon!
