As a rate payer of this community I believe we are entitled to a library open the full week. I use the library in a regular basis, any reduction in hours would be a disgrace as I was always brought up that a library was a important part of the community. I with all the reductions made in the community wonder what North Ayrshire Council are doing with my rates.
It would limit the options of when I can bring my kids to the library. Therefore, reducing how often they can visit. We live a short walk from the library and it's incredibly handy being able to stop in after school/nursery (both kids attend Dreghorn). It's a great resource for our local community and I'm certain there will be many others negatively impacted.
The proposed reduction in library opening hours will have a significant impact on my family. we visit the library regularly with my children, which encourages ie love of reading. The library provides a safe, welcoming , and educational environment. Reduced opening hours will make it much harder to access books and other resources like printers, which we use a lot for the the school work. The library is an important community space that supports children's education, learning and well being. Therefore reducing access will have a NEGATIVE impact on families. I'm sorry to hear that this lovely place with kind staff is being targeted again! The library also provides arts & craft activities for children alongside other events. This helps them develop, learn and socialise. This activities one important aspect of our community which my children really enjoy. We have been attending this library for years.
We always come to Dreghorn Library on Mondays or Tuesdays after school or during school holidays. We enjoy coming to Dreghorn library especially during the holidays as they have great scavenger hunts which all the children love and lots of other good activities. If the library closed on a Mon & Tues we wouldn't be able to come after school at all as Sofia has dancing on a Friday and my sister has the girls on a Thursday. Sofia loves borrowing books and it would be a great shame to lose this opportunity. Libraries are very important to communities and should not be closed. Sofia loves colouring in and playing with the toys at the library. There are very limited free places for children and young people to go after school. Libraries provide a safe, warm place where children & young people can relax or do homework. It is also important to have access to the internet and printers for homework as not everyone has access at home.
Yes I know all to with money. Changes that are due/ongoing. Person that has always used Library with computing, printing. Staff very helpful. As I am 72 years age Do not have any items above. Were it is hub for us all in other groups which will see groups dissapear isonation for us. What about froud in housing you should be checking. Were I stay most flats are not occupied spend money in right places. I don't do online. Just person that was educated with spelling, reading maths pen, paper. Dissgusted
We have a childminders group on a Monday, Our Bookbug session on Tuesdays as a childminder the library offers a safe secure area for the children to learn out of our main setting, enhancing literacy skills in a time that the country/local area is have a decline in. Communication & literacy states are at a low in achievement. Why when this is the cause do we think we should remove resources. I believe your states work of a belief of withdrawals of books this she be worked from useage. Dreghorn Library offers a safe secure area for lots of locals & when introduced as a warm space now with the cost of living even higher, you are removing a area that people have become reliant on. As for the days you are propossing you are offering a Thursday & Friday when there are other local groups run so doesn't get most use.
I go to library everyday it would impact me proposed hours because I havent go internet at home and borrowing book and computers and I always need help with things and stagg is excellent and helpful. I would proposed changes it would affect my life i how you don't make change.
(Writing this on behalf of my mum age 95yrs) Reading is my main hobby and library is a lifeline for me. Also if I manage to visit the library myself, I like to have the chance to meet & chat to people.
The library + knitting knatter will give me some to do where to go and get out the house meet people couldn't get out much before as I was a full time carer for my late husband. It would mean a lot if it was kept open not just for me but for my young grandchildren growing up and other people to that want to learn other skills also ppl that like books.
