I often go to the library on a Thursday as this is a day I am in the town centre. The alternative weeks suggested do not work for me (and probably many others) as it is difficult to remember which 'alternative' it is, and I am less likely to walk up with heavy books if I'm not sure if it is the right day.
My suggestion would be to scrap the two alternative weeks and either open the library every Thursday (or Friday or Saturday morning) This would give the same amount of hours but be less confusing. A large majorityof library users are older people and that is often when memory for alternate days is less clear.
The inconsistency of the opening hours is very confusing I will never remember when it's open or closed. It needs to be consistent.
Mon, Tues, Weds mornings or Mon, Tues, Sat mornings. The elderly often have memory problems this is discriminatory.
Being a holder of a disability badge, I would find this change to be challenging and a huge inconvenience. As our public toilet was removed a number of years ago, the community were told that the library could be used by public to try and justify its closure. I understand that NAC do not have a statutory duty to provide public toilets, but the community and visitors do rely on this facility, especially if you have a disabilty like myself.
It is really sad that this facility is slowly and methodically being taken away from our small towns, Staff hours have been drastically cut and you are reducing a safe space , a drop in for information and a life line for many,
As a retired person it is simple for me to get to the library. However I think alternate week opening times for Wednesdays and Saturdays is too confusing and discriminatory against those who work in the week as Saturday might be their only opportunity to visit.
The fact there will be no provision on any Thursday or Friday is totally unfair. We are @ present closed on a Wednesday which everyone accepts so why can that not remain so and at least give us some alternative on Thursday or Friday. For there being no provision on alternative weeks on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday is totally unfair to both customers or staff. I obviously have a different understanding of what you seem to interpret to the "continuity"
I have not objection to the proposed changes , so long as we have a notice of them. Opening alternative Wednesdays may take a bit of getting used to, but not a big problem. I have enjoyed using libraries all my life, and i think it is an important feature in the community. It offers other benefits too, I've groups meeting printing etc. Very important!

I usually visit on a Thursday as it fits my work pattern, new proposals I won't be able to access library except during holidays.
