  • I am deeply disappointed with the dramatic reduction of hours to my local branch Dalry. I understand savings are to be made but do not agree with the uneven application of reduction of hours at different branches in North Ayrshire. 2.5 days with 1/2 day rotating does not suit me. If it is 2.5 days I would prefer fixed days e.g. Mon Tues and 1/2 day Saturday, not alternating. I would not be using an alternative library on the closed days e.g. Beith, as this is not convenient to my lifestyle. I would more likely to wait for a library convenient to me. Using public transport as a fee paying adult, is prohibative between libraries e.g. Dalry to Kilbirnie £4.40 single ticket!!! £8.40 day rider - not feasable. I am disappointed no joined up thinking with transport links.

    • Book Group meets on Thursday afternoons. I don't understand the logic of closed days not being consistent - Wed/Sat. How are people supposed to keep it in their heads what week each day the library is open? NOT EVERYONE can check the dates on S Media. This will result in people giving up and not going. But maybe that's what NAC are hoping for! Also what's the point of 9:30 start instead of 10? Could that hour not be added to an evening to make 5:30 close which might be suitable for people who work? This proposal is very unsatisfactory.

      • I think having every other Wednesday open will be confusing. People will forget which Wednesday far better to have it every Wednesday open or Saturday for people who are at work during the week. I do feel this will impact on people who work at the library with job lose once again. Also children use it for different actively so full days seem better.

        • I am not happy with losing 2 opening days a week. I feel that the Wednesday morning opening on Alternate weeks is hard to follow and therefore not of any use as an alternative opening day. The Saturdays are the same.

          • The Council has closed on the days I want to access the services. These are disgraceful cuts - surely Educational Facilities should be protected because it is the very foundations of our community. And you should be valuing staff - not making their lives more difficult. Disgusting!

            • Friday is one of the days that I attend a group within the library. That is the day that is proposed to close. The alternative Wed/Sat closes will be confusing.

              • I can forsee a requirement for computer and printer services, that may be necessary quickly, for example, benefit, tax, medical purposes. I think to retain Friday, would mean there would not be a gap in such a situation. I do not have a car; public transport can be unreliable, unforeseen health problems could make travelling a problem

                • It's a place where we meet others at the wellbeing group on a Friday afternoon. We mix with other people & do our craft work & we can talk about our health issues if we wish to do so. Sometimes this is the only day that we go out to mix with others.

                  • I wouldn't be able to just pop in and browse anytime I like and if you haven't a car it's very difficult to reach other libraries.

                    • I have alzimers and have problems remembering things. Changing days would upset me very much. Also useful for public toilets.
