  • As a retired person I can choose to go any day. However, rotating staff may result in staff being less familiar with their customers and reading habits. A recent BBC article on Scandinavian libraries indicated that their libraries have been rejuvenated by increasing, NOT REDUCING, the services they offer communities. Has this been considered?

    • It is difficult to comment when you don't know what the reduced hours will be.

      • When requesting books the time to receive them would be longer. I have never used Wednesdays and seldom use Saturdays so a week day (Mon Tues Thurs Fri) would be better than Weds or Sat. Libraries should be open longer to encourage all types of reading for everyone,

        • Personally the proposed changes to the opening hours of the library here in Beith would not affect me so long as the branch remains open. However i would hate to see any of the staff made redundant here in Beith or elsewhere. Although I suppose redundancies are inevitable. As a senior citizen I would be lost without access to books.

Beith library is only open a few hours, at this point when will anyone ever get time to pop into library. Depends on when im working if I get time to pop in, its not easy with the times just now, I will have no chance to get in . If hours are made any less .

                • In many ways - As it stands library hrs are limited compared to even somewhere like Lochwinnoch!
