As a mum with young children, the closure of Ardrossan library would directly impact me. It is more than just a library, it is a safe , welcoming inclusive place where you can take your children, attend tutoring, social groups for adults. We have attended many bookbug classes over the years where my children have met friends, socialised and harvested a love for books. With the proposed reduced hours, I believe people may get confused about when the library is open. Asking people to travel to neighbouring towns is not always feasible. We live in a low economic area. If you want people to use libraries, you have to make them accessible. If your staff are doing double the work than before, the service will suffer. Staff may not be able to offer all of the wonderful activities that are available to library users.
The library is the best place to go. It gives you information on what's happening in Ardrossan and the the surrounding Area. There not much left in Ardrossan town shops have closed and nothing to do expect go to library. Richard and Stacy are really a good team. If you are not sure what to read or you can't find the book you are looking for Richard and Stacy will find it or order it. They know most of the books in the library. I think to split them up when they work so well together it would be detrimental to the community also they know all the people that go into the library and are excellent with the children in the children corner.
Please see response to previous question . In particular my concerns relate to the position of the community groups who meet in the facility a number of which meet on the days scheduled for closure . In addition I remain concerned that at a time when a purpose built facility is to be contained within the new Ardrossan campus consideration is being given to the diminution of the service . Are we building a new facility to lie empty for a large part of the week or are complimentary uses envisaged

Monday Closed morning. Open 2-5
Tuesday Open 10-1 & 2-5
Wednesday Closed
Thursday 10-12 & 2-4.30
Saturday. 10-1
Total 16.5 hours. Open 3 mornings and 3 afternoons per week, never closed 2 consecutive days, same hours every week
It’s such a shame that an important resource is gradually being shut down. It is forcing people to use it less and then it will be shut down because it’s not being used enough.
The closure on a Thursday and Friday and the alternate Wednesday
Not being able to use the Library facility on a Thursday and Friday will be such a loss socially.

I visit the library on the days you plan to close and will no longer be able to due to this.
