Summary

Showcraft: A weekly class for youth in West Kilbride and its surroundings, a celebration of creativity, discovery and everything Arts.

Description

From theatre design to musical theatre performance, Showcraft offers local youth (Ages 8-16) the unique chance to explore diverse art forms in the inspiring setting of the Barony Centre in West Kilbride. The partnership of Vertex Visions (a volunteer-led collective hosting diverse community arts events) and Kickstart Opera (a performing arts organisation and culture provider) enables us to utilise our sources of diverse range of artists, creatives, working professionals, and practitioners from the arts network. This collaboration offers participants the opportunity to explore various art forms they may not have encountered before. Art forms include: Drama (Storytelling, experimentation etc), Dance (Multiple Styles), Music (Musicianship, Singing and Musical Theatre for Children) and Stagecraft (Theatre design, prop making, costume making, theatre technology).

Our classes will commence from April 2024 and will run until June 2024, recommencing in August for the following academic year. They will be held every Saturday afternoon for 2 hours in the Barony Centre (Craft Town Scotland) in West Kilbride.

Support from the Arts & Cultutre Fund will allow us to fund the startup costs of the project. This includes, promotion @£150, funding the website with application form host @£50, resources for class (backing tracks, printing, game materials etc) @£200.

Location: Kickstart Opera is a non-profit organisation promoting musical experiences for all through their education projects and community events. Working with young young people is at the heart of the organisation. We want every child to have opportunities to create, participate in and experience high-quality art and cultural activities. We guide every child to discover and learn transferable skills for life. Let children develop a sense of ownership and belonging in their Art. We also support the professional development of composers, arrangers, teachers, emerging artists and young professionals working collaboratively with children and young people. Our young artists and emerging musicians are celebrated through our Coffee Cadenzas Concert series and Cadenza Artist Scotland Scheme.
