Paddle boards
2023-08-31 • No comments • • Three Towns
The unit currently has single person paddle boards but these are unsuitable for younger persons who would not be able to operate them. The unit seeks funding to purchase large paddle boards which hold 6 to 8 young persons. This would allow more young persons to try paddle boarding.
We do not need to buy any safety equipment as we are well stocked with them. The equipment is stored in a locked garage at the scout hall.

Our club supports people of all ages, providing exercise, descipline, respect and self belonging. We have incorporated session to support children with additional needs, removing those barriers and allowing them to take part and belong to a club. Exercise can improve your sense of control, coping ability and self-esteem. People who exercise regularly often report how good achieving a goal makes them feel.

Showtime Youth Theatre
2023-09-10 • No comments • • Irvine
The money would be used to put on a Theatre Show in March 2024 to assist with costumes, props and scenery.
The young people gain experience with performing and working together which builds their mental and physical wellbeing, communication and teamwork skills and builds confidence and trust. Most importantly they mix all of these skills with having fun and growing together. The Showtime Youth Theatre assists young people to express themselves; gain confidence with public activities and ensures that nursery, primary and secondary school young people interact and the culmination of learning songs, dances and acting skills creates a fantastic performance.
The young people are working very hard every week to learn their new dances/routines and whilst we have auditions for the lead parts, all young people have an active and inclusive part to play whether it is in acting, dancing, singing or drama. This builds not only confidence but also maintains positive mental and physical wellbeing and entertains the people of Ayrshire whilst being a fun activity. One main aim is the development of our young people and to watch them grow throughout the years but we also wish for our local community in Ayrshire to thrive and we therefore try to source and support our local businesses as much as we can.
The Showtime Youth Theatre is an integral part of Irvine life as the young people participate in Marymass, put on shows at Fullarton Connexions, for the Ayrshire Hospice and sing Christmas Carols within local Supermarkets. The young people also learn the value of team work, kindness, community spirit and about the Irvine locality when they bag pack and fundraise in local shops and supermarkets.
Through participating in a show and working on their group activities and then as a whole team together, the young people gain many skills from teamwork to trust to understanding others and working at different paces to reach their end goal, showing how hard work and participation gives achievement and puts on a fantastic show which is fun and benefits them.
The main benefactors of the funding are the young people but it is also the Instructors and friends and family who get to enjoy all the hard work when they see the performances and smiles on the faces.

WK Print Studio - Young Peoples printing projects - Local Environment
2023-09-04 • No comments • • North Coast
We will create a series of free print workshops exploring the different methods of printmaking e.g. Gelli plate, Collagraphs, dry point etching and tetra pak printing. Using nature and our local community as the theme for the workshops we will explore print making using materials that we would normally discard, and we will look at how art and creativity can look at the natural environment and reuse and recycle to protect it. There are lots of transferable skills occurring in the workshops and they can be linked to other aspects of daily life without even realising it; communication, understanding, environmental, relaxation, creativity. The printing will be for all ages and all abilities giving confidence and creative skills.
We are also hoping to engage not only the younger age range but work with older youngsters in encouraging them and their creativity as well as encouraging them to volunteer support during some of the sessions. Each participant will leave the workshop with a sense of achievement and a piece of artwork with which they can engage with others. Finished pieces may also be exhibited on the gallery wall of the Print Studio.

Garnock Rugby Club Junior Section

We are the Junior Section of Garnock Rugby Club. We strive to keep rugby as affordable as possible to young people while providing opportunities to promote health and wellbeing through physical activity. We would like to purchase rugby balls and make a contribution towards the costs the club incurs to hire indoor and astro turf facilities during the winter months. This allows young people to continue to participate in rugby activities during the winter months thus supporting their health and weelbeing (physical and mental). By seeking funding we are able to keep our membership and siubscriptions fees as low as possible to ensure costs are not restrictive in people being involved in the sport.
Training balls £200
Match balls £150
Hire of gym hall and astro turf £650
Cumbrae Young Curlers
2023-09-10 • No comments • • North Coast
Millport Curling Club would like to give young people on the island an opportunity to experience the sport of curling by arranging test sessions for 10-12 year-olds at a mainland ice rink. It’s challenging for young islanders to participate, given the need to travel off-island and the expense involved so we will arrange bus transport and professional coaching at a curling rink for a group of 10-12 year-olds to inspire and encourage them to get involved in the sport. Millport Curling club members will host the away-days, together with Cumbrae Primary School teaching staff and professional coaches, at Greenacres Ice Rink. The project will improve the health and well-being of young participants through physical activity and social connection and the funding will address the Cost of Living crisis by making the activity financially accessible for all youngsters who wish to take part.
Estimated costs for 2 sessions of 12 participants:
Ferry & Bus: £600
Venue fees (Ice/coaching): £300
Total: £900

Sports Council

We would like to provide sports clothing to the young people in the Irvine area to allow them to have access to free sporting sessions. As a Sports Council we provide a range of the activities (most are not at capacity) but we currently cannot provide the sports kit to allow some young people the ability to access. We feel under capacity is likely to be due to them not having kit.
Cheap dri-fit sports tshirts = approx £6 -7 per item.
Cheap dri-fit sports shorts =approx £7 per item
We would look to help up to 100-120 pupils and would look to variety of sellers to try and get best deal. From our inital research we can buy this for reasonable price and we would go for best, and cheapest, to get us the most amount of items.
This will then allow them to access the 12-15 sports clubs that we run.
