The AYA want to enhance the outdoor aspects of its youth provision at the Ardrossan Youth Centre recognising that fun activities outdoors improves wellness increases personal resilience and encourages participation.
Description
The Ardrossan youth association are looking to apply for funding for outdoor equipment for the youth centre to help young people experience outdoor group activities such as badminton, racket ball, soft archery, camping and more.
Health and exercise along with being outdoors will help young people with team building skills, self-esteem and confidence. It will encourage young people to live a healthier lifestyle .This will improve their health and wellbeing with being outdoors more, which is known to improve general fitness and health along with improving their mental health. The AYA are looking to buy some outdoor equipment for the youth centre, such as badminton nets and rackets, shuttle cocks, rackets for rounder’s, balls and some tents, waterproofs to also help give young people the chance to take part in camping and other outdoor activities and encourage them to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

Location: Ardrossan youth centre is run by a group of young people called the Ardrossan youth association. They meet most weeks of the year to run a committee to help fund and run and vote on various activities and trips throughout the year for the three town’s area and west Kilbride for the Ardrossan youth centre for all young people in these areas. This is open to all young people in this area from aged 11 to 25 years old .There are various groups running Monday to Friday in the youth centre from activity groups, committee skills, Ardrossan youth association ,arts and crafts and transition group for primary to secondary schools along with Duke of Edinburgh awards group. The Ardrossan youth association supports local community events such as the Christmas light committee and mobile cinema Ardrossan, allotments, local chit chat events and any other local events held by north Ayrshire youth services. They are a committed group of between 10 and 12 young people who provide a great service to their community and would like to help this further by providing access to more outdoor activities out with the youth centre to help improve young people’s health and wellbeing and confidence in working on group activities
