Radio City Association are working to provide cooking skills to combat the cost of living crisis. All participants are provided with free ingredients to prepare all meals and instructed with highly qualified and charismatic chef on basic cooking skills. We offer two levels of cooking class with one offering basic introduction for those who have no experience cooking and also a more intermediate class allowing for people with more experience cooking to prepare more cost effective meals.

The cooking lessons offer a relaxed, fun and interactive environment, with participants learning how to prepare cost-effective fresh and healthy meals with new cooking skills, developing other skills including teamwork, and also providing a place for interaction and tackling isolation. We work with the George Steven Community hub in delivering the classes who opearte community meals service and wider food poverty alleviation.

Dalry Community Development Hub (Community Garden)

The Community Garden was established during lockdown when we were able to work outdoors and socialy distance.

Over the last 3 years we have welcomed many visitors, gained new trustees, work with various groups including the schools, hosting and organising events.

We grow produce which goes back to the community helping with the cost of living.

We offer teas and coffees and plenty chat as the last three years have had a devastating effect on people's mental heath and wellbeing.

Outside in all weathers.
No comments Kilwinning

We wish to purchase waterproof suits and footwear for all children in our Early Years as we want every child to have access to outdoors in all weathers. Outdoor Learning enhances health and wellbeing and educational experiences. It supports mental, emotional, physical and social development and allows children to thrive in a stimulating and natural environment. Furthermore, accessing the outdoors supports the development of literacy and numeracy skills and enables them to be practised in a real and meaningful context. To ensure all children have the opportunity to learn outdoors throughout the year, and that families are not impacted by the cost of wellies or waterproofs, we wish to provide these within the EYC.

Garnock Valley Allotment Association- Bee Colony Project ( Honey production )
1 comment Garnock Valley

The Garnock Valley Allotment Association ( GVAA ) was established in 2009 to allow local people to start up a plot for the purpose of growing their own food and improving their life through horticulture. The cost of living crisis and increased focus on healthy lives means it is more improtant than ever to grow your own. Our membership of over 80 people is made up from Garnock Valley residents and we actively encourage and advertise for others to join. Our committee is made up of members volunteering their time to maintain and improve the site.

The GVAA has strong links with the local community. Communal growing space is provided for local community groups such as Cafe Solace and Spike Wheat Scots. Additionaly local schools such as St Bridgets Primary and Garnock Academy are regular visitors to the site growing fruit and vedge, learning about horticulture and completing maintenance tasks. All members are encouraged to donate excess stock such as potatoes, onions, carrots, rhubabrb, herbs, lettuce, turnips etc etc to the local community. We would like to extend this service by producing and distributing honey made from our recently introduced bee colony.

Dundonald Crescent will be known by many, by the previous name, Dundonald Camp, or as “The old military houses” near the Paper Mill. We are working closely with North Ayrshire Council and the surrounding communities to establish our estate with a brand-new identity. Over a decade has passed since the M.O.D sold the estate and now is the time to see the place where we call home flourish and evolve into a desirable place to stay.
