We would like to continue to offer Tai-Chi classes to people living with Dementia in our local Community. Funding a qualified Tai-Chi Instructor and hiring an appropriate Hall, to undertake the classes for the local Community. Research Studies showed that in people with mild cognitive impairment Tai-Chi slowed the progression to Dementia more than other types of exercise and improved cognitive function in a comparable fashion to other types of exercise or cognitive training. Tai-chi is a safe effective activity that improves physical balance and emotional wellbeing in older adults.

This is a continuation of an activity that we have been running since August 2022 following a successful bid to Last years NAC Participatory Fund.
costs are
£30 per half hour session with Instructor

Location: Dementia Friendly Largs and District is a charity whose aim is to encourage Largs and District to become dementia friendly. Since we have been established, we have taken over the delivery of purchasing and supplying the Emergency Help Bottles. We have written and published a booklet A Helping Hand for family members and carers to share what is available locally to support their loved ones. We have given out a number of Robotic cats and dogs to people living with dementia who can no longer care for a real animal, we have also donated a set to the stevenson day center in largs. Which has been very successful with the clients attending the center. We have also loaded a number of Arthur Bears with individual playlists, we would like to continue to deliver this service to the local community over the next 12 months.
