Summary
Our Unit is part of a larger organisation, but despite this we struggle to fund outings. Annual subscriptions have recently risen to over £70 per child, placing additional pressure on families and limits what we can provide. The Unit has been running over 30 yrs, supporting girls aged 4-7 with a safe space that promotes friendship and new interests. We also rely on a weekly subscription of £2.50, which helps cover basic running costs but does not stretch far enough to fund outings.
Description
We would like to secure funding to ensure all our Rainbows have the opportunity to go and visit a Zoo, or go on a summer trip, including those who may otherwise be unable to go due to family circumstances. This outing is an important part of building confidence, friendship and shared experiences within the unit, and we want every girl to be included.
The cost of bus hire is currently £500 (with the possibility of increasing), current entrance costs for Edinburgh Zoo is £21 per child. We also hope to provide each girl with a small sweet goody bag to make the experience extra special.
In addition to supporting the trip, any funding received will help us encourage the girls to participate in Rainbow badgework. Badges cost approximately £1.50 each, and would reward the girls for their achievements which would help build pride, motivation and a sense of accomplishment.
This funding will directly support local girls by removing financial barriers, make a memorable outing, and helping them stay engaged, confident and active within Rainbows.
