Growing Together - Annick Community Gardening Project
Summary
The Parent Council is seeking funding to launch a community gardening project that will transform the green space at the front of our school into a vibrant, welcoming area for all. Bringing together parents, pupils, staff, and local residents, the project will enhance the school's appearance through planting, light landscaping, and ongoing community-led maintenance.
Description
The aim of the project is to improve the appearance of the school's frontage, creating a space that the whole community can take pride in. Funding will be used to purchase plants, bulbs, compost, gardening tools, and materials for planting areas. Volunteers will work together to design and maintain the space, ensuring it remains colourful, sustainable, and inviting throughout the year.
In addition to improving the local environment, the project will encourage community involvement, strengthen relationships between families and the school, and provide opportunities for children to learn about gardening, biodiversity, and caring for shared spaces. We hope this initiative will foster a sense of ownership and pride within the wider community while creating a positive first impression for everyone visiting the school.
By investing in this project, the council will help create a greener, more vibrant communal area that can be enjoyed by pupils, families, staff, and local residents for years to come.
All landscaping and ongoing maintenance will be delivered by volunteers from the Parent Council, school community and local residents, ensuring maximum value for money and long-term sustainability of the project.
