Summary

A charitable organisation offering support and promoting the wellbeing of people living with Tourette’s.

Description

We are hoping to provide new, engaging and therapeutic activities at our monthly support sessions at Vineburgh Community Centre, Irvine. We would use the funds to include a range of beneficial activities within our sessions including: games, sensory aids, art and craft, and have a petting zoo visit us. We think it is really important to promote positive mental health in people of all ages struggling to cope with the challenges that Tourette's bring. Tourette Syndrome is a complex neurological condition. Many of our members suffer from social isolation; difficulties in education or work; judgment from others; dealing with regular health-related appointments; and various other challenges. Our group based in Irvine is a safe space for people with Tourette's - and their families - to meet in person with other people living with Tourette's. Many of our members benefit from taking part in activities in the supportive social environment of our group. Our support group reduces isolation and improves mental health. We are run by a collective of volunteers facilitating community-led action that brings people together to help one another.

We would use the funds to provide new activities which would be particularly beneficial to the mental health of the individuals and families we support. The aim of our group is to have everyone feel included, supported and understood so our sessions will remain completely free to access and open to all.

We are hoping to hold 12 sessions through 2027.

Costs consist of:

art and craft materials: including badge maker and a printer - £410

sensory toys/aids, and games - £200

petting zoo - £390

Total = £1000
