Active Travel walking and cycling.
Summary
To provide a refreshment and toilet waypoint at Skelmorlie Secret Bunker Museum on stage 12 of the Ayrshire Coastal path from Largs and Skelmorlie for walkers and cyclists.
Description
In order to encourage individual, family and organised groups undertaking physical exercise we would like to promote active travel by creating a free serviced waypoint for their use.
The travel route is on a single track tarmac road safe for walking and cycling which contains fantastic landscapes and viewpoints around and over the River Clyde to Arran, Cumbrae and Bute.
The natural beauty of the surrounding area between Largs and Skelmorlie should be shared for the benefit of all our community in North Ayrshire.
At our museum site we have a self contained welfare unit called a Groundhog which contains a small messroom, toilet and diesel generator.
We would like to share this facility with our community by providing non alcoholic drinks and water along with toilet facilities all free of charge.
We are open most Sunday afternoons between May and September and intend to use the North Ayrshire Libraries and Trinty Active travel to publcise our location and facilities.
Costing- we have estimated over the five months of opening leaflet advertising costs at £100, Groundhog toilet servicing at £210, diesel for the Groundhog generator at £40 and incidentals such as non alcoholic refreshments, waste bags and eco cups at £60.
The total funding bid being £410.
