Summary

A welcoming space where women can connect, create and support each other, helping improve wellbeing, build confidence and reduce loneliness and social isolation.

Description

The She Shed provides a safe, welcoming space where women can meet others, try new things, share experiences and build meaningful connections. For individuals, being part of the group can help reduce loneliness and isolation, improve confidence and self-esteem, and support positive mental wellbeing.

We believe that every woman who comes through our doors brings something unique and valuable to the group. Everyone has their own experiences, skills, personality and strengths to share, and these contributions help make the She Shed what it is. Women are not simply attending to receive support; they support, encourage and learn from one another, creating a genuine sense of belonging and community.

The positive impact of the She Shed does not stop when we leave the building. We see the confidence, friendships and sense of connection developed within the group being carried into everyday life. It helps our members to feel more comfortable meeting new people, accessing other local services and activities, reconnecting with their community and feeling that they have a place within it. In this way, the She Shed helps create stronger connections, not only between our members, but throughout the wider community.

Funding will allow us to continue providing the She Shed and all activities and refreshments free of charge to all who attend, ensuring that financial circumstances do not prevent the women in and around Dalry from accessing the group. It will help us maintain a consistent, inclusive space where we can build each other up, recognise our own value and carry that sense of confidence and connection into the wider community.
