ADDR – Keeping North Ayrshire Dogs Safe
Summary
Providing free Smart ID tags and practical dog-safety education to help prevent dogs becoming lost and reunite North Ayrshire dogs with their families quickly and safely.
Description
Ayrshire Drone Dog Rescue (ADDR) is a volunteer-led organisation helping to reunite missing dogs with their families and providing practical advice to help keep dogs safe.
We are applying for £1,000 to expand our dog-safety work in North Ayrshire through our free Smart ID Tag scheme and community education.
Our Smart ID Tags attach to a dog’s collar and contain a unique QR code. If the dog is found, anyone with a smartphone can scan the tag, alerting the system and helping us quickly connect the dog with its registered owner. The owner’s personal contact details do not need to be displayed publicly and there are no subscriptions or ongoing charges. We provide these tags free because we don’t believe cost should be a barrier to helping keep a dog safe.
We will also use the project to provide practical education at community events, including advice on preventing dogs becoming lost, what to do if your dog goes missing, how to safely respond to a frightened or loose dog, identification and microchipping (which we offer free), and responsible dog ownership.
Project costs:
Smart ID Tag production – £850 Towards producing individually coded Smart ID Tags for free distribution to North Ayrshire dog owners.
Educational materials – £150 Printing and materials for community dog-safety events and awareness activities across North Ayrshire.
Total project cost: £1,000
The project will help more North Ayrshire dogs carry effective identification while giving owners practical information that could prevent a missing-dog emergency in the first place.
