Summary

The objective is to bring varied live music to older people with disabilities living in Amenity Houses - Dickson Court, Beith and Connell Court, Kilbirnie. Residents fall into the category of being disabled. At local meetings they asked if consideration could be given to "bringing concerts to their complex because they are unable to attend events elsewhere due to disablement." Our aim is to make this request come true on an experimental basis. Make a dream come true!

Description

Bringing Live Music to Older People: This matteer was raised by residents who heard about concerts locally which they were unable to attend. Barrmill Jolly Beggars are prepared to hold two concert - Dickson Court, Beith and Connell Court, Kilbirnie, with the aim of bringingl live music to those who are unable to leave their Ameneity complexes. Initial contact with NAC Housing has been positive. However, we do need funding as follows:

Two concertevents: featuring: Irvine and Dreghorn Band - £800 and Beith Theatre Group/Local church choir: £300; Small buffet @ £200: Total cost of bring music to both venues: £1300. Amount requested: £800

We believe that in addition to meeting a request by disabled older residents, it would improve their morale; bring happy smiles, and importantly let them see that they are remembered in what is perhaps the Autumn of life. We we also invite Carers of the older folk to come along. The events would be ticketed as space is limited. We will also work with NAC Housing on these proposals, but they have already intimated consider think the idea is very positive and innovative. We would value any funding. Whilst the cost is estimated at £1300, we are asking for £800 whilst Barrmill Jolly Beggars will provide the other £500 as part of their commitment to community wellbeing..

We believe this project fits well with thefunding categories of: Community Action and  Community Innovation. It also fits well with two of the four North Ayrshire Council Plans viz: 1 Transition to wellbeing economy, delivering properity and wellbeing. 2 Communities and Local Democracy: Active, inclusive and resilient communities.

Thank you for considering this application which we feel is innovative, realistic and achievable within the requested amount of £800 to deliver two concerts.

Thank you for considering this application from Barrmill Jolly Beggars to bring some joy and happiness to our disabled local folk in Amenity Housing in Garnock Valley. This is experimental and hopefully if approved and funded will be extended to other amenity locations.
