Project Summary
A monthly community cafe bringing people together through free refreshments and practical workshops on first aid, cyber safety, wellbeing, literacy, numeracy and sustainability, reducing isolation.Project Description
Connect, Learn & Grow is a 7 month community programme providing a welcoming cafe alongside practical, accessible workshops for local families, parents, carers and community members.
The project aims to bring people together, reduce social isolation, improve wellbeing and build practical knowledge and confidence. Each monthly session will provide an opportunity for people to meet others in a friendly, informal environment while learning skills that can benefit themselves, their families and the wider community.
Workshops will be selected according to community interests and needs and may include:
- Baby & Child First Aid delivered by a professional external trainer, covering CPR, choking, burns and other childhood emergencies.
- Child Cyber Safety, supporting parents and carers to understand online risks, social media, gaming and keeping children safe online.
- Numeracy, to support children and families at home.
- Literacy & Communication, including supporting children's reading, language and communication.
- Sustainability & Community Growing, including practical environmental activities and a small planting pack for each participant to take home.
- Health & Wellbeing, providing practical information around looking after ourselves, possible yoga or mindfulness session.
- Further workshops may cover cost-of-living support, children's wellbeing, recycling, digital skills and family life.
The project will create a regular opportunity for people who may otherwise feel isolated to develop relationships and become more connected to their local community. It will also provide practical learning that participants can take home and use with their families.
