Retirement yoga group
Summary
We are a group of retirees (70-80+ yrs) who enjoy yoga practice and socialising for our physical and mental health. Yoga helps with our flexibility and balance, reducing our risk of falls etc, and the relaxation and breathing techniques help in dealing with anxiety and stress. Socialising together helps alleviate loneliness and isolation which can lead to declining mental health.
Description
We are a group of 25 retirees, mainly in the 70/80 age group. Our oldest member is 86. We have been running for approx 18 years and we have a waiting list to join us. Yoga practice helps to keep us physically active, improving flexibility, balance and strength thereby reducing the risk of falls & injuries. The breathing and relaxation techniques we learn help in dealing with the stresses and anxieties of life. Some of us are dealing with caring for our loved ones. Many of us are now widowed and having to deal with the loneliness and isolation that this brings. Our group are also a support and social group helping each other in times of need. It is so important of have activities to encourage socialising, stimullation and inclusion which is so good for our mental health. Eating together is also a stimulating activity encouraging conversation and laughter. We also encourage using the local coach company for our days out as they wil facilitate local pick up and drop off. This reduces the need for car travel and taxis which is better for the environment. We use public transport where possible and we car share when this is not possible.
We would like to have a bus trip for a day out and include a meal.
Coach hire for 25 people £500
Meal for 25 people £500
Total £1000
