Project Summary

To set up and provide a craft studio within West Coast Crucible Community Gaming Hub. This will enable people to come in and use the equipment to learn new arts and crafts skills and to attend classes with local instructors and guest speakers.

Project Description

West Coast Crucible are now in the third year of running the group and have recently taken on premises on Dockhead St Saltcoats. Moving from a community centre once a week to running a full time community hub has been a challenge  but the response and support from the members and the community has been amazing. All of the equipment purchased with the help of the PB fund in previous years has moved into the new premises with us and is available to be used by any member of the public who comes in for a bite to eat at the community cafe or to join one of our board game sessions.

The group would like to set up a permanant arts and craft studio that would be available 5 days a week to members of the public to attend and use the suplies and facillities as well as for demonstrations and art classes where people could learn new skills and meet new people.

The money received from the PB fund would be used to purchase Art Easels, Acrylic paints, Oil paints, Water colour paints, Pastels, Canvases and Paper, card making supplies, sewing supplies, model making supplies, and to pay for tutors to come in and lead classes for people from the community. £700 will be spent on supplies with £300 being used to book tutors and demonstrators.

We have a very active membership who already use the facilities to build and paint gaming miniatures and we are excited to be able to extend what we offer and to reach a much wider demographic. Groups will be run for members of the ASN community, pensioners, womens groups and mens groups, sessions for children, as well as general hours for peple to come and work on their own project.
