Kilbirnie and Glengarnock Age Concern

Elizabeth Johnstone No comments Garnock Valley

Summary

The group runs every Thursday at Bridgend Community Centre with the aim of reducing isolation of elderly people in the community. Each week we provide tea and coffee and every second week we have a prize bingo. We have strong links with partners in the community and aim to provide local elderly people with a safe and welcoming space.

Description

Being awarded PB funding would enable us to take an elderly group on two small outings. Last year we enjoyed a shopping trip to Braehead and a meal at Linwood Farm then a separate meal was enjoyed at a local resturant , The Blu Bar.  This brings together people who would normally have limited contact with others.

The funding we are asking for this year is £1000. This will be used to hire a bus from Marbill at a cost of £500 to McKinnon Mills at Coatbridge.

We would then like to organise another meal at a different local restaurant and estimate this will be at a cost of £20 per person. The total cost would be £600 however we are asking for a contribution of £500 towards this.
