The proposed family fun day is off the back of this year’s successful fun day with over 500 people in attendance. This is all planned and facilitated by the youth association at the youth centre

The Family Fun Day will provide a free, inclusive and accessible event for local families, designed to reduce the financial pressures associated with the ongoing cost of living crisis. All activities, entertainment, refreshments and meals will be provided at no cost to participants, ensuring that families can enjoy a full day of positive experiences without financial burden.

The event will create opportunities for families to access free recreational activities that may otherwise be unaffordable, helping to improve wellbeing, reduce social isolation and strengthen community connections. By removing financial barriers to participation, the event will support families experiencing economic hardship and ensure that children and young people can benefit from enriching activities regardless of household income.

In addition to providing free food and entertainment, the event will bring together local organisations and support services, enabling residents to access information, advice and resources relating to financial wellbeing, community support, employability, health and family services.

The project aims to:

• Reduce the impact of the cost of living on local families by providing free food, activities and entertainment.
• Increase social inclusion and community cohesion through a welcoming community event.
• Improve wellbeing by creating opportunities for families to spend quality time together in a positive environment.
• Connect residents with local services and sources of support.
• Ensure that children and young people have access to enjoyable experiences regardless of financial circumstances.

The Family Fun Day will deliver both immediate relief from financial pressures and longer-term community benefits by fostering stronger local networks, increasing awareness of available support, and promoting a more resilient and connected community.
