Summary

Barrfields Community Garden in Largs grows food to share directly with the community, Largs Food Bank and Largs Food Larder. Our mission is to grow sustainable and organic local food for donation and to foster community engagement with the entire growing cycle.

Description

Barrfields Community Garden is a project centered in Largs with a twelve-bed growing space and both indoor and outdoor growing areas. As a group of volunteers, we grow vegetables, fruits and flowers to share with the community directly and with local charities. In Summer 2026, we were able to make multiple dontaions of organic produce, plant fruit trees for future harvests, and work to make the garden more available and attractive for community events.

In 2027, we hope to countinue our work to make the garden even more open and accessible to the wider community by covering weedy areas with membarane and wood chippings for ease of access. The garden would also like to complete our small polytunnel project for further indoor growing of fruits and vegetables. We would love to continue our work of previous years by growing and donating food locally and holding Open Days for the community to visit, learn and enjoy the space.
