Together Kilwinning is an intergenerational project bringing older people who may be lonely or isolated together with young ACES volunteers for regular afternoon tea and reminiscence sessions.

Young volunteers will welcome and serve participants, sit with them and encourage conversation. Sessions will use old tins, bottles, household items, photographs and other memorabilia to spark memories and stories. We will also show old films and television programmes and include quizzes, traditional games, music and other social activities.

The project will reduce isolation, give older residents something positive to look forward to and create new friendships. It will also give young volunteers valuable experience, building their confidence, communication skills and understanding of older generations.

Together Kilwinning will create a warm, welcoming space where generations can come together, share memories and ensure older people continue to feel valued and connected to their Kilwinning community.
