Summary

The Writing for Wellbeing group provides a supportive space for adults to improve mental wellbeing through creative writing. Participants build confidence, reduce isolation, develop friendships, and express themselves in a safe, welcoming environment.

Description

We are seeking funding to enable members of our Writing for Wellbeing Group to attend a live theatre performance in 2027. Funding will cover theatre tickets, ensuring the opportunity is accessible to all participants, regardless of financial circumstances.

The Writing for Wellbeing Group supports adults who experience social isolation, loneliness, poor mental wellbeing, and low confidence. Through weekly sessions, participants build supportive relationships, improve their wellbeing, and develop confidence through creative writing and shared experiences. The group creates a strong sense of belonging and encourages members to support one another, both within the group and in the wider community.

This project aligns closely with the Community Action theme by reducing isolation, improving mental health and wellbeing, and bringing people together through a shared cultural experience. The theatre visit will strengthen social connections, promote inclusion, and provide inspiration for future group writing activities. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on and share their experiences through creative writing, helping to build confidence and encourage peer support.

The project will directly benefit group members, many of whom face barriers to accessing cultural activities due to the cost of living. By removing these barriers, the trip will provide a positive and enriching experience that improves wellbeing, encourages community participation, and strengthens connections between individuals.

This is an idea that deserves funding because it invests in people, promotes community cohesion, and supports those who may otherwise miss out on opportunities that enhance wellbeing, creativity, and quality of life.

£50 x 10 Theatre tickets = £500 total
