Kilwinning Community Sports Club (KCSC) is a registered charity, community anchor organisation and nationally recognised Community Sports Hub serving Kilwinning and the wider Ayrshire region. Established in 2000, the Club has grown from a volunteer-led football organisation into one of Scotland's leading community sports facilities, providing affordable opportunities for sport, fitness, health, wellbeing and social inclusion.
The Club supports over 500 young players, more than 20 youth and adult football teams, seven local schools, community groups, ASN participants and almost 150 volunteers. More than 4,000 people benefit from our facilities each year.
We are seeking £1,000 to renew and upgrade essential pitch equipment including football goals (£500), dugout improvements (£300) and corner flags and pitch equipment (£200). The equipment has reached the end of its operational lifespan due to sustained and exceptionally high levels of community use.
KCSC operates one full-size synthetic pitch, four synthetic small-sided pitches and multiple grass pitches which are heavily used by teams, schools, community organisations and local residents throughout the year. As one of North Ayrshire's busiest sporting venues, maintaining safe and high-quality equipment is essential to ensure continued participation and positive user experiences.
This project will protect a valued community asset while ensuring continued access to safe, affordable and inclusive sporting opportunities. It will help prevent increased costs being passed on to local families at a time when many households are experiencing financial pressures and will support equality of access to sport regardless of income.
The project aligns with the Community Action theme by promoting physical and mental wellbeing, encouraging participation and strengthening community connections. It also supports Local Ownership by improving a community-managed facility that local people use, value and take pride in. Furthermore, it contributes directly to the Kilwinning Locality priorities of improving community wellbeing, improving the local environment, supporting skills and volunteering opportunities, and promoting equality of access to opportunities
