Fullarton Hub is seeking £1,000 to support two community initiatives that reduce social isolation, improve wellbeing, and increase access to affordable food for local residents.
Funding will cover a Movie Screening Licence (£180) and subsidised refreshments for 11 community movie sessions (£550) held during school holiday periods in 2027 (6 weeks in summer, 2 weeks in October, 2 weeks at Easter, and 1 at Christmas 2027). We anticipate around 50 attendees per session, offering accessible, family-friendly twilight entertainment and opportunities for community connection. Food costs are approximately £3 per person, and we aim to subsidise £1 per attendee to keep events affordable for local households.
Funding will also support our Friday Lunch Club for Older People (£270). The club regularly welcomes up to 30 older residents each week, providing opportunities for social interaction and reducing loneliness. The grant will enable us to offer a subsidised lunch once per quarter during 2027 covering a cost of £2 per head, totalling £270, helping to reduce food insecurity while supporting health, wellbeing, and community connections.
Together, these activities will strengthen community cohesion, provide affordable social opportunities, and support residents most affected by the rising cost of living.
