Dance Mafia Fundraising is a separately constituted, not-for-profit group with its own committee and bank account. Our purpose is to support local young dancers and ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent any child from accessing opportunities.
We are applying for £1,000 to create a Competition Entry Support Fund for children and young people from the Three Towns area whose families are experiencing financial pressure.
Dance competitions provide much more than the opportunity to perform. They help young people develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, commitment and a sense of belonging. However, entry fees can quickly become unaffordable, particularly where a dancer has qualified in more than one category or a family has more than one child participating.
The cost-of-living crisis means some families may have to withdraw their child from competitions or prevent them from accepting opportunities they have worked hard to earn. This can leave young people feeling excluded from their friends and teammates through circumstances completely outside their control.
Funding would be used solely for competition entry fees for eligible children and young people during 2027. No money would be given directly to families or used for Dance Mafia Ltd’s routine running costs. Dance Mafia Fundraising would make payments directly to competition organisers.
Support would be awarded confidentially and fairly, based on financial need. This will protect families’ dignity while ensuring that the fund reaches those who need it most.
The project will help young people remain active, connected and included while supporting their confidence, physical health and emotional wellbeing. Our goal is simple: no dancer should be left behind because their family cannot afford an entry fee.
