Project Summary

Supporting pupils mental health through exam stress activities and providing inclusive wellbeing, sensory and social activities for young people in our SSR Base.

Project Description

Irvine Royal Academy Parent Council would like to use this funding to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people within the school, with a particular focus on exam pressure and inclusive activities for pupils within our SSR Base.

Exam periods can be a stressful and overwhelming time for young people. We would like to provide a programme of wellbeing activities and resources that help pupils manage anxiety, build confidence and develop healthy coping strategies. This could include relaxation and mindfulness sessions, wellbeing workshops, stress-management activities and practical resources that pupils can continue to use during periods of increased pressure.

We would also like to provide additional inclusive activities for pupils within our SSR Base, ensuring young people with additional support needs have access to meaningful, enjoyable and appropriate wellbeing opportunities. Activities could include sensory sessions, music, arts and crafts, movement activities and other specialist sessions designed to promote confidence, communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing.

The project would help create a supportive and inclusive school community where all young people can access opportunities to improve their mental and physical wellbeing. Funding would allow us to bring in experienced providers and purchase resources that can continue to benefit pupils beyond the initial activities.

Breakdown of costs would be to spend around £700 in our mainstream school activities which would include familes and pupils and £300 on sensory projects for our SSR base for children with additional needs age from 11 to 18.
