Project Summary
Garnock Valley Youth Synergy is a group of young people who formed to help bring teen spirit to the Garnock Valley since Oct 2024. Supported by the GV locality team we have participated in projects such as our kindness boxes at Christmas and Climate change awareness over the summer. We are also working towards our John Muir and Dynamic Youth Awards and feel that the group has helped us develop more confidence and has impacted our hopes for the future which we see as positive.Project Description
We would like to apply for this funding so that we can particpate in a Community Art Mural Project in partnership with Bridgend Community Centre. We as a group are focused on creating a better environment for young people in the Garnock Valley and trying to make a positive impact on the enviornment. We would like to promote positive climate change actions and a sense of pride in the Garnock Valley. We will achieve this by working with an established artist to create a climate awareness mural and invite other young people from other youth groups to join us. We think this project will give us a feeling of accomplishment, develop our creative, team work and communication skills. We also feel it will spread positivity and help the wellbeing of the young people involved.
We have spoken to an artist and have came up with the following plan.
Workshop Days
3 sessions @ 4 hours per session = 12 hours
- covers travel, time to source and collect materials, set up, session time, tidy up
Planning, Prep & Design time
Approx 8 hours
- covers time to plan the workshops and to develop the mural design
Touch ups
Approx 1 day / 8 hours
- covers time to finalise the mural to give it a good finish
= £800
Materials
Approx £200 using spray paint and masonry paint
Total= £1000
