Summary
We would like to keep our running costs at a minimum for our families, whilst providing the best experience for our Brownies. Our group enjoys arts & crafts and cooking skills, working towards badges. Each Brownie displays their badges to show off their interests and to encourage and help others to try new skills. Our trips and celebrations are costing more as expenses increase, and cost to register each child in Girlguiding. The grant would allow us to maintain our normal fees.
Description
Our 1st Stevenston Brownies meet together on a Thursday evening for fun, crafts, making new friendships, building confidence and creativity. The group is run by volunteers and running costs are covered by monthly subs. Each child registered requires to pay a census each year on top of normal running costs. Covering some of the cost would allow other funds to be used for celebrations or events. £30 per child x 18 = £540. We also buy the group badges on completion of a variety of skills. Approx 18 x £1 ×12 = £216. Some of girls can earn more than 12 badges in a year. Arts and crafts bundles and cookery sets= £244.
How have young people been involved in shaping this project?
Volunteer leaders are always seeking the views of the group and asking what they enjoy and what they would like to continue in the year ahead. They all love the opportunity to get creative and learn new skills and love to come together at the end of the year for a celebration. Each girl is proud to show off their badges earned throughout the year by sewing their badges onto their sash. This allows them to support others in also achieving that interest badge.

Project complete22 people benefitted from the funding. This funding made a massive difference to our outgoings this year. The contribution towards the census was amazing for us to not have to ask thr parents to pay for and also being able to buy the interest badges and some books this year. This meant we were able to spend other money on the girls at Christmas time and taking them to events. We really appreciate the funding.
