Project Summary
Blacklands Primary School as one of the Schools that reside in deciles 1 & 2 and falling into the 20% of most deprived areas in Scotland we are seeking funding to support the hosting of discos, events, and other fun activities for the children who attend our school. These activities will be designed to be inclusive, safe, and welcoming for all pupils, with particular attention given to children with additional support needs (ASN) who may find traditional busy or noisy environments overwhelming.Project Description
Aims and Objectives
• To provide inclusive social opportunities for all pupils, regardless of individual needs.
• To create a safe and friendly environment where children with ASN feel comfortable and able to participate.
• To foster a sense of belonging, fun, and community within the school.
• To offer a variety of activities that support social skills, confidence, and wellbeing.
How the Funding Will Be Used
Funding will be used to:
• Hire appropriate equipment (lighting, sound systems, sensory-friendly resources).
• Purchase inclusive resources such as sensory toys, quiet zones, or adaptive materials.
• Cover costs of decorations, refreshments, and event materials.
Impact and Outcomes
• Increased participation of children with ASN in school social activities.
• Improved confidence, wellbeing, and peer relationships across the whole school.
• A stronger, more inclusive school community where every child feels valued.
Sustainability
We aim to establish these inclusive events as a regular feature of school life. Funding will help us to create a framework and purchase reusable resources to ensure long-term continuation.

Some good sensory-friendly party activities include physical activities that allow for lots of movement and bouncing (bounce houses, trampolines, obstacle courses), water activities, ranging from splash pads to water tables, scavenger hunts with clues to follow, and craft activities etc but can also be fun for all children at the school!
