Supporting Inclusion Through Sport in Kilwinning

Children from Kilwinning and the wider North Ayrshire area with additional support needs will have the opportunity to benefit from a fully-funded sports camp. The aim of offering this experience free of charge is to remove financial and emotional barriers that may prevent families from exploring new activities. From our experience, many parents may hesitate to commit financially without knowing how their child will adapt to a new environment or sport. By eliminating this cost, we hope to create an inclusive and welcoming space for every child to try something new.

Kilwinning is one of the most economically disadvantaged areas in North Ayrshire, and we recognise the importance of providing accessible opportunities for all. At Kilwinning Community Sports Club, we maintain strong partnerships with local ASN (Additional Support Needs) schools. These connections will be invaluable as we design the camp with expert input and identify participants who will benefit most from the experience.

Together, we aim to create a supportive, inclusive environment where children can build confidence, develop new skills, and feel part of a vibrant community.

Easter 2026 Inclusive Holiday Camp – Grant Proposal

We’re planning something special for Easter 2026—a free, inclusive, week-long holiday camp for children with additional needs, and we’re seeking funding to help make it happen!

Camp Details: 🗓️ When: Easter Week 2026 ⏰ Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon (Daily) 📍 Where: Kilwinning Community Sports Club – Fenced Astro Turf Pitch (with disabled parking and accessible toilets)

This isn’t just any camp—it’s a space where children who often face barriers to participation can play, learn, and thrive in a safe, supportive environment. Through fun games, movement-based activities, and skill-building exercises, children will be encouraged to explore, connect, and build confidence.

To best meet the needs of our participants, we’ll integrate sensory equipment to help with emotional regulation and ensure every child feels safe and supported. Full risk assessments will be carried out, and the venue’s secure fencing allows us to maintain a safe, enclosed space for everyone.

Why We Need Support

To run this camp successfully—and truly meet the needs of the children—we require additional qualified coaches and support staff who understand inclusive practice and can provide 1:1 or small-group support where needed.

With your help, we can:

  • Create a zero-cost opportunity for families

  • Provide specialist staff to ensure every child gets the attention they need

  • Foster a sense of belonging and fun during the school holidays

  • Support children who may not otherwise have access to inclusive recreational spaces

Together, we can turn a simple week of camp into a lifelong memory for children and families who deserve it most.
