Trip to Edinburgh

Project Summary
The young people of AYF's Fundraising Group are trying to raise funds for a trip to the mainland to enjoy a day out, shopping, dinner, the cinema.Project Description
We would use the £1,000 for a trip to the mainland to visit Edinburgh and enjoy the sort of day out together that we can't enjoy on the island. This would be a really fun and novel opportunity for the young people of Arran, visiting a big city and seeing the sights. It would be a lovely reward for the young people who work hard every Monday to support the great work of the charity.
Every Monday after school, a dedicated committee of young people help raise funds for AYF. We do this by baking and selling cakes, selling smoothies, producing a magazine, doing a 'Guess The Jelly Beans' contest etc. From January to June we aimed to raise £3,200 to support our trip to Alton Towers and were successful in doing this. Between now and the end of the year, we are looking to raise around £2,000 for an overnight visit to Edinburgh.
This would contribute to the health and wellbeing of young people. As it is at our request, this would help fulfill young people's voice and rights. It would address the cost of living crisis, by giving young folk a free opportunity to have a fun experience.
The budget for the trip is: Hotel: £1,000 Food: £500 Ferry: £150 Train: £100 We are already doing well with fundraising and have brought in c.£200 already, with plans for more fundraisers in the coming months. We would be looking to do this in December 2025 as a pre-Christmas event, but our contingency in the event of late award of funding is to do it in the early part of 2026.
