Kilbirnie and Glengarnock Age Concern

2025-08-25  •  No comments  •  Elizabeth Johnstone  •  Garnock Valley

Members state that the excursions we provide are an important part of the group as they feel inc!uded in an activity which they would not be able to participate in otherwise. We would be unable to provide this without funding such as the locality PB. We have been fortunate enough to receive this previously and provided a fantastic days out  to Cumnock Factory Outlet and a meal at Romeo and Ju!iets.

We would like to apply for funding to provide another 2 trips next year which will be chosen by the members of the grouo. We therefore require £1000  which will cover the approximate cost of the bus at £500 and approximate cost of the meal at £500

Our committee aim to provide either two small trips or one trip and a meal out.

These excursions encourage our elderly people to enjoy company and reduce social isolation and improve their general wellbeing.

Over 50 +club

Our project aims to reduce loneliness and improve mental health by bringing older people together in a supportive and fun environment. Our current 52 members benefit from regular activities such as bingo, quizzes, and day trips.

To make our club inclusive and affordable, we are seeking funding to cover:

  • £500 for bus hire to enable members to attend day trips and outings.
  • £500 for seasonal community events (Valentine's and Easter celebrations), which provide opportunities for members to socialise, build friendships, and feel part of their community.

By helping with these costs, we can remove financial barriers, encourage more people to get involved, and ensure our members feel valued, connected, and supported.

Ayrshire Independent Living Network

If successful, the CWB funding would allow us to bring in a consultant to strengthen our branding and marketing. As a charity, we have grown significantly in both our size and the support we provide, and we want to make sure we can fully showcase the breadth of our work in ways that are clear, accessible, and inclusive, ensuring no one is left out.

As a not-for-profit organisation, every penny we earn/raise goes straight back into the charity, the communities, and the people we support. Our charity is a a social care chairty and the teams go above and beyond every day to meet increasing demand. At present, they create resources using the tools available to them, but this takes up valuable time. With this funding, we would be able to produce professional, accessible materials that reach a much wider audience, easing pressure on our teams while ensuring our information and support are inclusive for all.

By voting for us, you’re helping us continue to grow, remain accessible, and make a bigger difference for the people and communities who need us most.

Mobility and Health with Intergenerational Socialising

2025-09-04  •  No comments  •  Catherine Brannan  •  North Coast and Cumbraes

For this fund, we encourage and support those with lesser mobility to socialise outdoors either with a picnic in nature or within a local establishment. The aim is to have intergenerational interaction supporting a sense of being involved and connected to all of the community, without being segregated by mobility or age.  Meeting fortnightly we incentivise increased mobility and socialisation by contributing once per month towards a lunch within a local establishment or provide a picnic in nature. Request £80 per month; our average attendance is 10 people and the suggested contribution is £8pp towards their meal. (£80 x 12 months = £960). When more people arrive, the contribution is reduced or the additional cost is supported by other YES contributions.

YES Your Entire Self cic runs 3 weekly groups of Mindful Living for a Healthier Community, Chill n Do Social Club and Wheel and Walk Club.  Each group on a weekly basis can have attendance of between 10-30 people.  We run free Forest Therapy sessions for the Community to support overall Health and host additional Forest Therapy events for those with less mobility.  We promote nature as a tool for wellbeing. We have an annual 12 week course to support recovery for Women of Domestic Abuse.  We hold Wellbeing and Self Care Days for Families of Loved Ones with Addictions as well as Self Empowerment Days for those with Addictions.    We collaborate with Hope (CLASP) Harbour Ayrshire, NA Mental Health Nurses, Link Workers, Drum4Life, EmpowerMe, Forest Therapy Practitioners, NA Social Services, NA Community Hubs as well as NA Recovery College and Douglas Park. In any one week we can support between 40-70 people, all having a positive ripple effect on family members and friends with NA communities.

YES set up as a cic 3 years ago with one weekly group and one Mindfulness course.  We have since grown in demand each year, building up a reputation for positive outcomes and professional services.  All our volunteers and facilitators have lived experience of self empowered wellbeing and overcoming life challenges.  2026 we will continue to grow due to the current collaboration requests from other Ayrshire Third sector establishments and Social Services.  We continue to raise the voices of the unheard and unseen within our communities.

Ayrshire Independent Living Network, Dementia Wellbeing Cafes

Dementia Befriending and Wellbeing cafes

2025-09-15  •  No comments  •  Ayrshire Independent Living Network  •  Three Towns

The Dementia Project provides one-to-one befriending for people living with dementia, offering companionship at home and support to access their local community. It also gives unpaid carers vital respite through our carers’ peer support.

In addition, our Dementia Wellbeing Cafes in Saltcoats and Irvine provide a welcoming space where people with dementia and their loved ones/unpaid carer can come together to enjoy social activities, entertainment, chair yoga, or simply connect over a game of pool, a cuppa, and a chat. The cafes play a key role in tackling social isolation while supporting positive mental health and wellbeing.

Both the befriending service and the cafés are free, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to anyone attending. A dedicated volunteer fundraising committee organises events to raise funds for days out for people living with dementia, their unpaid carers, and volunteers.

Any funding received would help us keep the cafés free and support the delivery of activities, themed events, and entertainment, ensuring they remain a fun and inclusive spaces for all.

Eglinton Park Path Stewards

2025-09-07  •  1 comment  •  A F Caldwell  •  Irvine

Our voluntary group aims to promote social inclusion, improved mental health and wellbeing, physical activity and community service. We promote these aims within the group and, through our activities, to improve accessibility to Eglinton Park's core pathways for all users.

Our work is in addition to, going above and beyond the routine maintenance and repairs of the park as provided by Streetscene and North Ayrshire Ranger Service.

Our project is ongoing, the aim is to continue to improve our offering around the core pathways of Eglinton Park and also to continue to grow the membership of our group. To be able to do this we need to replace and upgrade our existing toolset to improve our offering and to further assist the local community and all users of Eglinton Park.

Please have a look at our Facebook page to see the work that we do.

We are applying for funding of £1000 to help us to promote the aims of the group as outlined.

Items that will improve our offering, with approximate costings:-

Battery operated cordless power tools - £500

Manual hand tools - £250

Personal protective equipment - £250

The financial support is required to contribute to the provision of the meeting venue and the provision of the weekly lunches, as well as the Christmas lunches and outings. It has also allowed for the provision of transport, specifically taxis, to allow some members of the Group to attend meetings, who otherwise could not, due to their mental or physical disability. For instance, the provision of taxi transport to meetings for a member of the Group who is fundamentally physically disabled and wheelchair bound. The Group now provides meetings every week at Vennel Gardens whereas previously the second week of the month was not available, allowing the advantage of weekly continuity. This has increased catering, rent, and transport costs for disabled members. The Group had a deficit of over £1000 last year despite a grant from the Scottish Governments, Social Isolation and Isolation Fund. Due to these additional costs and the impact of inflation, funding is essential for the Group to continue.

Rent @ £10.80 per week for 10 weeks out of 40 = £108

Catering @ £30 per week for 10 weeks out of 40 = £300

Xmas Lunch Deposite (total cost £28.75 per person for 20 persons) = £100

Transport (taxi) costs for disabled members to attend meetings = £100

Total Grant Requested = £608
