The Vennel Friends Discovery Group meet weekly in the Vennel Gardens and helps older people come together to meet new people and try a whole host of activities while working towards a recognised award. Our group is open to anyone over the age of 50. We participate in a wide range of activities that promote the health and wellbeing of our group members. The group provides a safe and welcoming place for older people to connect socially which helps to combat loneliness and isolation.

Every year the Irvine Seniors Forum run an information day and now, after our successful first health and well being day, we are looking to put both of these events on in 2026. These events are great for older folk who enjoy the these days and interact with others out with their normal circle whether large or small.

We aim to hold events for the children within the community of Dreghorn and surrounding areas, arranging a free to attend gala day and fun day. This will be free to attend ensuring it is accessible to all children, despite potential barriers such as cost of living.

Café Solace is a community café led by people who have been affected by substance use and who champion recovery in North Ayrshire. We currently deliver an employability & well-being project through Café Solace (Stevenston & Irvine areas), providing affordable, nutritious meals for up to 60 members weekly in Irvine & also providing a weekly café in Caley Court Resource Centre for both service users & staff, breaking down barriers & building positive relationships.
Irvine Table Tennis Club - Competitions For The Community

Irvine Table Tennis Club was founded in 2018 and is based at the Portal, Irvine. Our club which is affiliated to TT Scotland, runs weekly, every Tuesday where we have 12-15 tables set up for use. Irvine TTC is a community club for everyone in Irvine town centre, where our volunteers and coaches have created a safe space for all to enjoy playing table tennis regardless of age, ability and background.

We are currently looking to apply for PB to help restore our polytunnel and raised beds due to wear n tear with the weather over the years . The garden is used to supply local community and Choices food larder for free with the produce that they grow. this is attended by both the young and elderly(intergenerational) and is now also extended to recovery groups to have that piece of mind pottering about in an open space and benefiting their mindset.

The Group offers support and fellowship to people who suffer from disability, their families, friends, carers and support workers, that is run by volunteers. The Group was originally set up for people who suffer from Multiple Sclerosis (MS) but this has been extended to all types of disability, older persons and persons experiencing social isolation and loneliness. Vennel Gardens Entertainment Committee

The Committee aims to provide social events for residents of Vennel Gardens and wider community members to help reduce social isolation and enhance the health and wellbeing of our over 50's. The group has been active for over two years now and has over 50 members who have taken part in various social activities such as bus outings, live entertainment afternoons and lunch clubs.
