The Garnock Valley Community Concert Band is a multi award winning concert band , rehearsing in the Garnock Campus, under the direction of our acclaimed musical director. The band has proven to be a unique point of contact for many musicians- all with a passion for music.
We wish to put on a musical extravaganza in our community- using visual media along side musical performance. To put on a matinee and evening performance, purchase music for this, and make is accessible for all.
Project Description
The goal of these performances ( the matinee and evening concert ) is to make enjoying live music accessible to all. By puting on a well lit, underbooked performance ( allowing room for the audience to move around if they want to ) and create a welcoming, friendly matinee taking place in the afternoon..
The evening performance would be a little more serious , but just as welcoming.
To put on this event , the Garnock Valley Concert Band (GVCCB) would need to buy music scores , hire a large venue, with multi media equipment installed and disabled facilities.
Therefore...
A large parking area
Good quality, multi media installment in the venue to allow the performance to run with visuals
Good lighting and seating to allow a " lights up" matinee- making the performance all ability friendly .
Hire of venue - size dependent £200-£500 X 2 performances (2X 5 hr lets in large multi media venues)
Musical score -£175 -£200
Sundries such as advertising event, ticket printing - £75
APPROX TOTAL £1275
If the event proved to be popular, the band could look into providing these concerts on a more regular basis
Any underspend on the above costings above would be taken off the price of admission to the event, making it more affordable for everyone to attend
The band fundraises throughout the year in order to finance itself as much as possible - attending local events, bucket collections ,easyfundraising page, local concerts twice a year and subscriptions from the players and friends of the band. This itself finances the annual accounts - music , rehearsal hall hire, directors fees , insurances etc. The band would like to do more community based projects such as this extraveganza in the future- making the local community aware of what a wonderful thriving band they have on their doorstep. We are currently working towards a charity event for North Ayrshire Cancer Support , the SCBF and NCBF contests and of course - a Christmas concert .
Garnock Valley Community Concert Band ( SCO NoSC043326) has been a life line for many musicians from all walks of life . Some struggling through isolation, disabilities, mental health issues, and others reconnecting with music after not having played for many years.
This would be and excellent way to showcase its abilities and team spirit, whilst giving back to the community .
Location: Garnock valley has many experienced musicians within its locality- many of them professional , teachers - both working and retired. This would be a lovely way to give a musical performance including many of the ex pupils of Garnock - who found the community concert band a natural step after leaving the school band
