Craufurd Simson Park - Engaging the community

Choices Community Shop is a community food project set up by volunteers in the community to provide food with dignity to those in need. The funding will be used to help reduce the impact of poverty within the community based on individual needs. Our Community Shop has capacity to support approximately 100 households per week but with over 400 registered, many have to wait. This grant will allow for more households to be able to get support when they need it by getting access as required.

This year as a local community centre we would like to offer families an opportunity to have breakfast with Santa free of charge to help in times of the cost of living crisis. We live in an area identified as being of multiple deprivation and some of the children and young people in our area have limited financial resources. We would love to build community spirit by offering a breakfast with Santa for free.

Thanks to PB grants, Eglinton Growers for the last 2 years been able to provide free a Easter Egg hunt and a fun afternoon of activities, as well as a Santa's grotto. These events have been well attended by the local community with tickets gone within days of advertising. We would love to continue these events each year. Each event has seen over 100 children coming along with their families.

Cycling Without Age Scotland (CWAS) is a charity providing FREE outings for elderly people with mobility issues. Our volunteer pilots (trishaw cyclists) take people out of their care homes to enjoy fresh air and engagement with the outdoors along the Promenade at Largs.

Dalry Community Sports Club are looking to run a series of free Community Cinema events in Dalry Community Centre to bring the community together and to help combat social isolation issues.

We are looking for funding to put towards the club, it helps bring young people off the streets and learn how to look after their wellbeing. The club is open to everyone aged 5-95.
