We run Garnock Valley Carves, which takes place on Saturday 9th September and is expected to attract around 3000 visitors. 28 carvings (produced by 14 international carvers) will be auctioned at the end of the day, some for community benefit.

The event costs around £12000 to run. We try to make all children's activities free, with reduced entry for families (under 5's are free). Free stalls are offered to all not for profit community groups.

We provide 2 Face Painters, 2 Story Tellers, Play outdoors, Axe Throwing, Hands on learning at the Amateur Radio station, Wood working skills, and others.

Funds requested: £1000 to cover face painting and storytelling.

We have provided a breakdown of last year’s costs, and we plan to bring in additional funding from other sources to cover the outstanding costs:

Hire of 2 Face Painters @ £250 each   = £500

Hire of Story Tellers @ £250 each     = £500

Hire of Play Outdoors @ £650 + Vat   = £780

Council Event Fees                               = £494

Hire of Toilets  6 off                              =£576

Insurance for the event                        = £406.35

Total of above (Last years prices)         = £3,656.35

These are only some of the costs involved in running this prestigious event for the area.

We would like to be able to stock a larger variety of food products especially fresh fruit & vegetables that we can offer to the pantry users at a low cost or even for free. This would help us greatly to promote healthy eating within the local community.

Due to the current economic climate we are seeing a vast increase in demand for our service so this money will be used to implement and provide a lunch service which hopefully will help eleviate the pressure of our night cafe, as well as provide a warm space and food for the locality.
