Description

In June 2022, LCC set up a sub group "Access to Food" Terms of Reference is to " Assist local groups to maintain/expand services providing food to people in need Outreached to local groups and formed a working relationship with Largs Naz (Largs Church of the Nazarene) who in conjunction with additional support have established a range of activities centred around providing food in a dignified and person centred manner.

Amount requested: £900

Sat Takeaway Homebake £50 per session fortnightly for 3 months =£120 Thur Common Ground £40 per session weekly for 3 months          = £540 Wed Souper Storytime £20 per session weekly for 3 months          = £240

Proposed on behalf of: Largs Community Council - Cost of Living Crisis translates to Food Crisis "Heating or Eating" with no sign of end to current situation which for many is a daily dilemma of how they will feed their families (and themselves) Through providing Access to Food in a dignified manner the numbers of people attending weekly events has steadily grown with all events at Capacity. Teaching people how to cook simple meals (taking them away) provides mental health and wellbeing to the individual along with family food and knowledge of how to cook the same inexpensive meal at home. Providing a safe, warm and welcoming environment to come, have a chat and something to eat has for many become the most important part of their week Donations of food from local garden growers have been welcomed and strengthens community bonds and going forward is hoped will see more individuals participating as they all recognise the need for a dignified Access to Food with everyone welcome
