Summary


Description

In Town Environment Group A) Enhance existing Community Garden (corner of Gogoside Road / Irvine Road) purchasing additional summer plants and Seasonal Event Features which have been enormous success in past year (Easter Bunny, Halloween Witch, Christmas Tree with Frosty the Snowman) With Larger Christmas tree and lighting feature as well as additions ie Santa's Sleigh and Reindeer   B) Litter Campaign (phase 2) Phase1 now complete with over half the Town's shops displaying "Emoji" circular litter poster (circa 40 posters left for distribution April'23) as well as 2No 1.0m dia signs within Largs Academy refectory. Phase 2 production of 10-12 Large Scale posters for distribution at highly visible locations throughout Largs : entrance to School Campus, public parks, Vikingar, Barrfields and Prom (relevant consents being attained with assistance from NAC)

Location: Largs

Proposed on behalf of: Community Garden : highly visible corner area on main road into Largs which Community Council entered into agreement with NAC to manage and maintain - bringing joy and happiness to those passing on a regular basis or on an occasional visit to Largs. The garden has in the last year become a Focal Point with Seasonal Displays which have featured highly on Largs Facebook pages (pics of young people at garden displays) and has been a particular favourite for the residents of adjoining Retirement apartments This assisting with peoples health and wellbeing with numerous taking the time to stop and chat with volunteers managing the garden, LCC have recently been approached by Neighbourhood Networks (Charity Org) for there volunteers to be given the opportunity to assist in managing the garden Litter Campaign : bringing together all sectors of the community : North Coast Youth Forum who assisted with design of Emoji Logo and posters within Largs Academy, local shops & businesses displaying poster and now moving onto Phase 2 more highly visible Large Signs throughout Largs and more interaction with Youth Forum and Academy pupils ; Hence bringing different generations together to highlight the issue of Needless Litter and encouraging all age groups to "please put your litter in the bin"
