We would like to purchase 8 Robotic pets ( dogs or cats) to distribute to people living at home with Dementia. Research and anecdotal evidence show that robotic pets helps people living with Dementia on multiple levels. 1 A reduction in anxiety, agitation, stress, and depression and an enhanced sense of wellbeing 2 Improved social interaction and communication with family /caregivers. 3 The ability to self-soothe with a safe activity that does not require close supervision. 4 The resurrection of happy memories of former beloved pets, or other times that gave them pleasures 5 Reduction in the need for anti-psychotic medication.

Robotic companion have been proven to increase cognitive activity. The robots have been cited in a dozen papers and journals as factors in alleviating feelings of depression and loneliness and reducing medication use, and the burden on carers. It also has the benefit of increasing the feeling of purpose among adults, Robotic animals have been touted as a more reliable and potentially safer alternative to living therapy pets, as they are less likely to behave ,unpredictably and cannot become scarred or stressed.
