Description
We are located next to stage 12 of the Ayrshire Coastal Path above the Meigle at Skelmorlie and some 3 miles North of Largs. The path is a single council maintained tarmac road. We are open on Sundays from April to September 2023 other days/times by special request.
Requested amount: £800

Location: Skelmorlie
Proposed on behalf of: When we started this museum/heritage project some eighteen years ago now known as Skelmorlie Secret Bunker www.skelmorliesecretbunker.co.uk we clearly understood that it could never be a commercial enterprise due to the restricted physical space and specialised nature of the museum tour lasting 1.25 hours for a maximum of six persons. Stage 12 of the path covering the Old Largs road from Routenburn golf course to the Meigle contains stunning coastal and scenery over the River Clyde to the Islands and Cowal Peninsular. It is used by a small number of walkers, cyclists and horse riders as an alternative to using the coastal A78 road which is totally unsuited to those groups. We appreciate that not everyone has the time or inclination for our museum tour however as part of our community outreach if we can provide a Sunday 'rest/refreshment' stop we hope to be able via local publicity, invitation and outreach to walking and cycling groups to increase the 'footfall' to all users of this path.
