Summary

Description

We would like to bring the community together on the historic occasion of the Coronation of King Charles 3rd.

Beith has a coronation garden, which was inaugurated in 1952, rejuvenated for the Jubilee last year and would be the focal point of free community events on Monday 8th May 2023.

This would include free activities for all ages, including food,  further a sense of community spirit like was evident at our Jubilee events when around 1000 people turned out. The money would purchase the food and activities

We have a history of delivering such events since our reformation in 2017.

Funds requested: £1000

Publicity £100 Food £500 Decorations £300 Promotional Activities £100

Location: Beith

Proposed on behalf of: The coronation of the King will be a historic national occasion. Beith and District CC have been at the forefront of delivering community led events to engage and encourage the local people to celebrate and remember together. These moments while fostering civic pride, also harness a sense of community togetherness that otherwise may not have a chance to flourish. On the day they will be activities, including competitions on the newly refurbished giant out door chess board, a historic piece of local history that has lovingly been brought back to life. As this is a holiday weekend, and the current financial situation, all activities will be free, allowing families an opportunity to spend the day together at no cost. To supplement this, we will provide basic free food, again this will support child poverty, as young people who would normally received a meal at school, will be able to access free food in a dignified and easy manner.
