Arran Kayak Club
Investment project code: 165
Summary
Description
We are a small kayak club open to all ages. We want to encourage youngsters but remove some financial constraints to young people gaining qualifications by the Club being able to offer payments towards course costs. In some instances being able to offer payments towards kit will make the sport more attainable. Handheld VHF radios and PLBs can be expensive, but a vital resource to the Club to ensure everyone's safety when out on longer trips.
Amount Requested: £766
Radios x 2 - £200 each (£400) Towlines x 2 - £58 each (£116) PLB - £250
Location: Arran Kayak Club
Proposed on behalf of: Kayaking is an ongoing sport with no start or end time. During the spring people look to do courses to increase their confidence on the water. Some of these can be delivered locally, some on the mainland. Often an inhibitor to these courses are the costs, so for the Club to be to offer financial contributions towards these (and some kit) costs would encourage some new paddlers. The safety kit would be owned by the club, but available to everyone wanting to do longer trips but, again, who aren't in a position to buy a radio/PLB just yet.
