Brodick Golf Club
Investment project code: 141
Summary
Description
We would like to create a safe, warm environment in the clubhouse, for members ,and their friends, (not necessarily members), to meet, especially those who no longer golf. We wish to provide a space where, particularly, those who feel isolated may visit for social interaction and activities. This facility will support mental health wellbeing and reduce loneliness for many. Following the easing of Covid restrictions, we kept the clubhouse open, in all weathers, as a meeting place. This is popular. To enhance our project we would like to purchase a tea and coffee making machine, digital radio and putting mats
Amount Requested: £900
Digital radio £200 Tea and coffee machine £500 Putting Mats £200
Location: Brodick Golf Course
Proposed on behalf of: We are a small golf club which has struggled financially over the last 3 years. We have an elderly membership. Since the easing of pandemic restrictions, the golf club is the place where people have felt most comfortable to gather. Most no longer play golf, live alone and view meeting at the golf club as a social event. Catering and bar services are closed in the week, but we keep the clubhouse open. We view this as an opportunity to keep in touch with our non golfing community, and keep them involved in a sport they used to play. This group has evolved following Covid and is becoming more popular. This social interaction has helped hugely with the mental wellbeing of individuals, and has provided a safety net, insofar as anyone who has not been seen for a few days or has been expected to visit is contacted. This is mainly an autumn/winter project, but we believe that the golf club will remain a popular meeting place throughout the year and hopefully for many more. A place to share concerns and anxieties, as well as exchanging local information and news People meeting at the golf club will also help them a little towards reduced heating costs in their own homes, especially if visiting two or three times a week
