Santa’s Sparkle is an annual event which heralds the start of the festive season on the Island. Beginning with Santa’s arrival by boat and his parade to the High School, we have a day of music performed by local musicians of all disciplines, a market of local crafters, lots of fun activities for children, food, drink and of course, an opportunity to meet Santa. The day ends with a Jack Frost lantern walk, with lanterns made by children during the day and then the lighting of the Christmas tree and fireworks.

Proposed on behalf of: Santa’s Sparkle is booked to take place on 25 November 2023. The crafters market opens at 11am, Santa’s Parade starts at 12pm and the fireworks which end the day will take place at around 5pm. Events Arran operate from the principle that no child should miss out on the event because of affordability. There is no entrance fee. All children’s activities are free. Visiting Santa and children’s gifts from Santa are free. There are a number of creative activities for children. They are encouraged to craft their own lanterns and costumes for the Jack Frist Walk and this year also had the opportunity to decorate ‘gingerbread’ houses. The event incorporates a number of young people’s community groups including Arran Music School and provides a supportive environment in which children and young people are able to showcase their talents. The event provides an affordable opportunity for local crafters to get their festive season off to a good start. All report very good sales, as the event is very well attended. Many charity and school PTA groups also benefit from the fundraising opportunities presented by Santa’s Sparkle. Santa’s Sparkle is visited by people from all age groups from across the Island. The venue is highly accessible. The event generates a great community feeling and is a great start for the festive season
