Description
We would like to run an ASN Family Fun Day open to all young people in the local community with additional support needs and their families. There will be physical activities including inflatables, therapeutic sensory and messy play bases and this will also offer an opportunity for parents and carers to meet up and network.

Proposed on behalf of: This project has a strong focus on bringing people together. The inflatable assault courses will aid physical health and wellbeing with the sensory & messy play focussing more on mental health and the therapeutic benefits. The exotic animals of the petting zoo will also offer therapeutic benefits – this can be demonstrated even more in young people with more complex additional needs as animals can offer a calming influence. There will also be benefits in relation to improved confidence and social skills. Parents & carers will be able to chat while enjoying a refreshment, therefore reducing isolation and loneliness, instead linking up and being in the company of others. Most of all, the fun days will bring people together to spend time with each other and enjoy themselves. Our groups are usually referral based and not open to all, so this will allow an opportunity for others to access this project who may not otherwise have that chance.
