Marymass Festival Committee
Investment project code: 116
Summary
Description
At the last festival we provided a family zone on the moor to provide free activities to young people and families. This was a great success last year and we would love to be able to run it again this year. We would like to be able to provide free pancakes and toppings for people coming through as well as glitter tattoos for young people. In addition, we would like to hire extra activities such as inflatables and simulators to offer for free.
Funds requested: £1000
£150 - pancakes and toppings £100 - glitter tatoo resources £750 - equipment hire (surf simulator, bouncy castle etc)
Total - £1000
Location: Irvine
Proposed on behalf of: Marymass dates back to the middle ages, but the festival as it is today has been nominating a Marymass Queen every year since 1928. People in Irvine look forward to the Marymass festival every year and provides an opportunity for young people to come together at an event to spend time together during the summer holidays. The free young persons zone in August 2022 provided pancakes for around 150 people and activities for around 400 people who took part during the day. In 2023, we would like to have pancakes, glitter tattoos and inflatables free to access for families at the event. This helps families mental health and wellbeing through activities they can take part in when they otherwise would have nothing else or would not be able to afford other attractions. It also helps alleviate poverty and inequality by having attractions that all families can take part in for free when many of the other attractions are charged.
